The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) seeks a full-time 9-month, tenure track faculty member in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Within this role, opportunities exist for maintaining some clinical practice.
Effective Date: August 1, 2026
Responsibilities:
- Teach and advise students within the DPT Program
- Engage in research with regular scholarly dissemination
- Engage in department, college, university service and/or professional service
- Actively participate in DPT Program curriculum
- Contribute to PT Department outcome assessment, DPT Program accreditation, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ongoing professional development in andragogy and clinical physical therapist skills as related to teaching assignments
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- DPT degree or equivalent
- Terminal academic degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DSc) or ABD (degree completion required within one year from hire start date).
- Tennessee licensed or eligible with direct access privileges
- APTA member
- 3+ years full-time clinical experience
- Expertise for lead teaching of limb loss management, prosthetics and orthotics, additional program content areas related to clinical expertise, and additional program content areas related to evolving curricular need(s)
Preferred qualifications:
- ABPTS or other specialty certification
- Completion of an accredited physical therapy faculty residency
- Experience in lead teaching at the doctoral level
- Expertise or demonstrated strong commitment to develop expertise for lead teaching of wound management and lymphedema management
- Clinical experience in multiple healthcare settings (e.g., outpatient, acute care, home health, skilled nursing, inpatient rehab)
- Clinical experience with management of patients with significant multi-system involvement
- Experience in research and/or service in the physical therapy profession
