The Secondary Education and Educational Leadership Departments (SEEL) mission is to prepare educators and related professionals to teach, lead, and serve in a diverse and evolving global society. Essential Duties:
The Department of Secondary Education and Educational Leadership (SEEL) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position. Successful candidates will be staff members who can collaborate with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department and our campus community.
The successful candidate will educate students primarily in the Secondary Education program, which includes undergraduate courses, the Masters Core, and the Accelerated Post-Bac program. Responsibilities may also include student teaching/practicum supervision and/or teaching and advising in other undergraduate and graduate courses in the department.
A successful applicant will collaborate with faculty members in the program and the department as well as engage with College of Education and Health Sciences colleagues and other internal and external partners in the program assessment, continuous improvement, marketing, and expansion of existing programs through the creation of off-campus cohorts. This position requires contractual scheduled in-person office hours for student advising and consultation. Additional responsibilities may include mentoring graduate students and other related duties as assigned and/or required.
The successful candidate will display effective teaching and mentoring practices that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within our department, student learning, and the university at large.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants are required to demonstrate:
- a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or Curriculum and Teaching by August 2026.
- Three or more years of experience as the teacher of record in grades 5-12.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, written, and digital communication skills.
- Evidence of collaboration working with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred applicants will demonstrate:
- Experience teaching in grades 5-12 public schools.
- Demonstrated ability to design and teach online graduate and undergraduate courses utilizing effective online/hybrid teaching strategies to promote student learning.
- Experience in program assessment and evaluation utilizing state and national accreditation standards.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and advising, and to professional work in a diverse environment that embraces excellence, multiple perspectives, equity, and inclusiveness.
- Ability to work collaboratively and use technology effectively in teaching and learning.
- Experience with State, national, and professional accreditation, including the MA Department. of Elementary & Secondary Education Standards for Effective Teaching.
- Record of professional activities commensurate with the rank of assistant professor.
- Experience with student recruiting and advising students.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and advise diverse student populations.
