Assistant Professor - Economic Theory
Position Overview
The Department of Economics at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in economic theory. The starting date for the position is August 2026.
Performance Objectives
The candidate will be expected to:
- establish and maintain an active research program,
- support our commitment to excellence in teaching,
- mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Candidates must have a PhD in Economics or a related field before employment begins in August 2026, and have a research, teaching, and service record commensurate with rank.
Desired: Priority is given to candidates whose research (job market paper in particular) is innovative and of high quality.

- Attachment 3: A writing sample (job market paper).

Department Information
The Department of Economics has about 28 full-time faculty members, 75 Ph.D. students, and approximately 1,000 undergraduate majors. It is a vibrant place for innovative research and learning. The department successfully hired three junior faculty members in the last two years and plans to hire 4-5 new faculty members in the academic year of 2025-26. We are committed to growing the faculty size in the next few years. In addition, the department will move to a new building in 2026, which is in the very center of the campus.
