Job Overview
The Department of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati (UC) seeks to hire an Assistant Professor-Educator who will contribute to our undergraduate instructional mission. The majority of our curriculum is designed for students who are enrolled in 4-year degree programs that are optimized for either general psychological science knowledge and skill development (BA) or preparation for scientific careers (BS).
This position is a non-tenure eligible Assistant Professor-Educator position with an intended start date of August 15, 2026. The initial term is 3 years and is renewable upon satisfactory performance. All new faculty are provided with mentorship to maximize success in the role. The expected teaching load is seven 3-credit courses per academic year or the equivalent. The retention and promotion criteria for Educator faculty emphasize teaching excellence, leadership in instructional innovation, and professional service. Research productivity is not required or evaluated but is permitted.

Essential Functions
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach a variety of undergraduate psychology courses, including but not limited to courses related to research methods and statistics, as well as other courses related to the candidate’s area of expertise. The candidate must be able to teach the majority of their courses in person, with distance learning being a much smaller portion of their work.
- Teach across a range of course formats (in-person, online, or hybrid) and class sizes, including large lecture courses and smaller skills/discussion-based courses
- Supervise undergraduate student teaching assistants enrolled in teaching practica.
- Engage in regular departmental service activities, such as (but not limited to) serving on committees dedicated to curriculum development, travel reimbursement, or administrative review.
Minimum Qualifications
Prior to the effective date of appointment, candidates must have all of the following:
- A PhD in Psychology or closely related field
- 1 academic term of experience teaching as the primary instructor of record for psychology-related coursework at the postsecondary level (e.g., as a graduate instructor, postdoctoral scholar, or faculty member)
