Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualifications required are a Ph.D. in Information Systems (IS) or a terminal degree, such as DBA or DSc, in a closely related field from an accredited institution by the employment start date.

Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)

We seek a colleague who exhibits a sincere commitment to the department's goals. Demonstration of the following is desired:

  • The applicant's academic concentration, research programs, or professional experience should be in areas directly related to IS, Cybersecurity, Business Analytics, and/or AI.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate teaching excellence at the collegiate level, along with a strong commitment to high-quality research in the field.
  • Relevant teaching experience at the university level in the field of IS, cybersecurity, business analytics, and/or AI is expected, along with a record of ongoing research activity leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • The successful candidate should have the ability to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

We are Growing! The Department of Computer Information Systems is housed in the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University. The Walker College of Business is committed to ensuring that its graduates are equipped to succeed in an increasingly innovative, multicultural, and interdependent world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service in an institution dedicated to undergraduate and graduate education.

The candidate will be expected to perform university, public, and professional service as part of the workload.
