Assistant Professor in Mineral Processing and Metallurgy

The Robert M. Buchan Department of Mining in the Stephen J.R. Smith Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in mineral processing and metallurgy. The preferred start date is January 1, 2026.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering or a related discipline by the start date. Professional engineering licensure in Canada or eligibility to obtain it is required. The main criteria include evidence of high-quality scholarly output, potential for independent research, securing external funding, strong teaching potential, commitment to academic excellence, and ability to work collaboratively. Relevant industrial experience is an asset. The candidate will contribute through service and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Vaccination Requirements
Prior to May 1, 2022, vaccination declarations were required, but these are currently suspended and may be reinstated.
