WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY. The Department of Music invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor in Piano Performance, effective July 1, 2026.

Qualifications:

An earned D.M.A. in piano performance; ABD candidates with teaching experience are invited to apply. Qualified applicants will demonstrate their ability to teach piano lessons to students of all levels and academic courses for non-music majors; to initiate and sustain an active performance schedule or a combination of performance activities with original research and scholarship in music; and to contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth for all its stakeholders.

Position Summary: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • teach undergraduate piano lessons to students of all levels
  • teach an academic course for non-major undergraduates of interest to the candidate and of need to the department, such as a faculty-developed first year seminar or a global or popular music history and culture course
  • actively perform or engage in a combination of performance and scholarly activities
  • participate in departmental, College, and University service

Candidates may choose to include an additional unedited video link to a performance in a contrasting style, but this is not required. Semi-finalists will be expected to submit a ten-minute teaching video, a brief professional statement that describes your artistic philosophy and future musical directions, and a list of three references, but please do not include these materials now.
