Assistant Professor - Internal Medicine (Lymphoma HMCT)

The University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking to recruit a full time academic clinical physician with demonstrated interest in Lymphoma. This candidate will support the departmental mission of delivering the highest quality of care, as well as satisfying teaching, research, and academic responsibilities. Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.

The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.

Required Qualifications

  • BC/BE in Internal Medicine
  • BC/BE in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology

Preferred Qualifications

Skills: Interest/expertise in Clinical trial development.

Job Duties

  • Provide medical care to lymphoma patients in an outpatient clinic and share in the rotation of inpatient coverage, including weekend and on-call coverage.
  • Train and educate medical students, residents, and fellows in patient care settings as well as in formal and informal group education formats.
  • Provide support for the growth and development of multidisciplinary hematology/lymphoma teams.
  • Attend Hematology/Oncology conferences, journal clubs, etc. Present teaching lectures to residents, medical students, fellows.
  • Support the departmental and divisional research efforts including clinical trial accrual and development and research mentoring.
