About Rancho Santiago Community College District

Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) is one of the most established districts in the state and has been in operation for nearly 50 years. Located in the heart of Orange County, it is one of the largest of California's 72 community college districts, based on the number of credit and non-credit students. RSCCD encompasses 25 percent of Orange County's total area and serves a population of more than 700,000 residents in the communities of Anaheim Hills, Orange, Santa Ana, Villa Park, and portions of Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Tustin, and Yorba Linda. The district includes Santiago Canyon College and Santa Ana College, as well as the Centennial and Orange Continuing Education Centers, the Digital Media Center, the Joint Powers Fire Training Center, the Orange County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy, the College and Workforce Preparation Center, and the District Operations Center. About the Position

The ideal candidate will demonstrate cultural competency in serving diverse community college student populations, including those with differing abilities, AB 540 students, DACA recipients, Foreign Residents, VACA participants, Dual Enrollment, and Continuing Education students. They will support RSCCD's mission to promote self-awareness, knowledge, and communication skills, enabling students to participate creatively and confidently in an ever-changing world.

They should effectively teach students from varied ethnic, racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including those with disabilities or differing academic preparation levels. About the Department

Disabled Students Program & Services (DSPS) fosters educational opportunities and cultivates campus environments that are accessible and equitable by design. DSPS partners with students with disabilities to facilitate academic adjustments (accommodations) and create access to credit and noncredit programs, courses, and services. Supporting student experiences extends beyond accommodations and intentional efforts are focused on providing a collaborative, holistic support that empowers students.

About the College

Santa Ana College (SAC), founded in 1915, serves more than 70,000 students yearly. At present, SAC students can work toward completing an associate degree, university transfer, career/workforce training or a bachelor's degree. As part of Santa Ana College, the School of Continuing Education located at Centennial Education Center offers free classes throughout the community for adults of all ages and academic backgrounds. Santa Ana College is an award-winning college and was recently ranked as one of the nation's top two-year colleges awarding associate degrees to Latino and Asian students and named one of the best community colleges in California by Intelligent.com. The college is also recognized throughout the state for its comprehensive workforce training programs for nurses, firefighters, law enforcement and medical personnel. General Responsibilities

• Coordinate and/or provide services and accommodations to students with disabilities (i.e. learning disabilities, mental health, Autism, etc.).
• Engage in an interactive process to complete initial interviews and screenings, review verification documentation and determine eligibility, develop and monitor academic accommodation plans
• Facilitate provision of academic support services and reasonable accommodations
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other college personnel to foster inclusive environments, implement accommodations, and support students' access to courses, programs, and services
• Provide learning disabilities assessments to determine students' eligibility for services, to include administration, scoring, and interpreting results of appropriate adult assessment batteries (i.e., Woodcock-Johnson IV or V, WAIS-IV or 5). Meet individually with students to discuss assessment results and options for support.
• Maintain liaison with educational and community organizations for ongoing referrals; conduct outreach and recruitment activities.
• Assist with recruitment, outreach, in-reach, and disability-related training activities such as workshops, information sessions, and presentations
• Offer guidance to students transitioning from high school and/or transferring to disability service offices at four-year universities

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

(Applicants must meet one of the following):

• Possess from an accredited institution: Master's degree in learning disabilities, special education, education, psychology, speech language pathology, communication disorders, educational or school psychology, counseling, or rehabilitation counseling AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of learning disabilities, to include, adult cognitive and achievement assessment or the equivalent OR
• The equivalent (applicants who do not meet the above minimum qualifications must complete the Equivalencies Section in the application form).

AND

• Candidate must demonstrate clear evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and the community. Experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds who have diverse identities and varying levels of proficiency.

Desirable Qualifications

• Completion of California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office Learning Disabilities Eligibility and Services Model (LDESM) certification. If applicant is not already LDESM certified, must commit to becoming certified within 18 months of initial hire date
• Formal training in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of cognitive (WAIS-IV/V, or WJ-IV/V Cognitive) and achievement (WJ-IV/V Achievement) assessment instruments.
• Multi-lingual and possesses the ability to conduct learning disability assessments in languages other than English (e.g. Spanish).
• Previous direct experience supporting the needs of adults with disabilities in a postsecondary setting.
• Working knowledge of disability-focused legislation and regulations (e.g. ADA, Title 5).
