The Mathematical Sciences Department at Rhode Island College seeks a teacher scholar committed to excellence in undergraduate education. The department offers Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Data Science and a Master’s in Mathematical Studies, serving majors as well as students from education, business, and general education programs. The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate courses, including general education, foundational courses, and ideally, a willingness to teach undergraduate probability and statistics. Responsibilities include advising and mentoring majors, contributing to department and college service, and collaborating across subdisciplines in the department.

Founded in 1854, RIC is a teaching-focused, primarily undergraduate institution of approximately 6,600 students located in suburban Providence. We proudly serve a diverse student body—over 40% students of color and more than 45% first-generation students—and are a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). Rhode Island offers a high quality of life with access to beaches, natural areas, and the cultural resources of Providence, Boston, and New York.

Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D in Mathematics as conferred by August 15, 2026
  • College teaching experience.

Baseline Minimum Salary for Terminal Degree: $66,569.93
