Position Summary
La Salle University's Natural Sciences Department invites applicants for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position with expertise in physiology for our biology program. A background in a physiology-related field such as neurobiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology and kinesiology, and organ systems physiology is desirable. The successful candidate will teach both upper-level undergraduate biology and physiology electives for biology majors and anatomy and physiology courses for first-year nursing and health science majors. There is also potential to teach and contribute to La Salle's new Biotech Innovation and Enterprise major. The successful candidate will also maintain an active research program centered in mentoring and training undergraduate La Salle science students.

We seek a dedicated biology teacher-scholar with a strong commitment to undergraduate education, excellence in teaching biology at the university-level, and mentoring science students to achieve their full potential to join our team.
Essential Duties
- Teach assigned courses and prepare course materials consistent with departmental learning objectives. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester; pre-tenure faculty are typically assigned a reduced teaching load of three courses per semester.
- Develop and teach undergraduate science courses in biology, including, but not limited to mammalian physiology, histology, neurobiology, and anatomy and physiology.
- Establish an active research program which trains and engages La Salle undergraduate students in research experiences.
- Provide academic advising for La Salle science students, including mentorship, guidance, and support.
- Participate in department and University service, including serving on committees, attending departmental and University meetings and functions, assisting with departmental recruiting and events, and other duties as assigned by the Natural Sciences Department Chair.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD (or research doctorate) in Biology or related field.
- Expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: physiology, neurobiology, neurophysiology, organ systems, or systems physiology.
- Knowledge and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
- Biology teaching experience at the undergraduate level or knowledge of effective biology education practices.
- Ability to seek external funding sources to support scholarship, undergraduate research, and teaching endeavors.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
- Ability to teach in the classroom and the biology laboratory is required, and may involve lifting heavy objects or working with chemicals common to a biology laboratory setting.
- Teaching evening classes may be required from time to time.
