Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice - Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine

The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an academic anesthesiologist position available at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice. This position is either full-time or part-time with an anticipated start date of December 2025 or thereafter. This position is not tenure-track and not eligible for tenure. Duties include teaching residents, fellows, medical students, and the clinical care team. The successful candidate will have a primary clinical appointment as a clinical psychologist at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC)-Center for Pain Relief. Clinical duties will include outpatient assessment (e.g., spinal cord stimulator evaluations, bio-psycho-social intake evaluations) and psychotherapy. The successful candidate will assist in developing comprehensive treatment plans and provide consultation with Center for Pain Relief pain physicians and advanced practice providers for patients with depression, anxiety disorder, and PTSD, with co-existing pain diagnoses. Engagement in evidence-based psychotherapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness/meditation, motivational interviewing (MI), and hypnosis for chronic pain and other comorbid concerns is expected. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, scholarship, and service. The initial appointment period will be three years with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The base salary range for this position will be $10,000 - $10,834 per month ($120,000 - $130,008 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications. Must have PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in psychology and completion of internship in an APA-approved clinical psychology graduate school program. Must be eligible for psychology licensure in the state of Washington.
