Position Title: Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Tenure track)

Reports To: Dean of Brennan School of Business
Location: On-campus (River Forest, IL)
The Associate Professor position is open for candidates with relevant credentials and experience.
Position Summary:
Dominican University is seeking applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Science for the 2025-2026 academic year, beginning in August 2025. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching to a diverse student body in computer science. The preferred candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the university mission as well as to developing and sustaining a portfolio of intellectual contributions in the field of computer science. The standard teaching load for this position is 21 credit hours, which corresponds to seven courses during the academic year.
The Brennan School of Business enrolls approximately 500 undergraduate business majors, and approximately 120 graduate business students within the Master of Business Administration (MBA), the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA), and the Master of Science in Health Care Management (MSHCM) Programs. Guided by the University's core values of Caritas et Veritas, the Brennan School of Business prepares a diverse student body, through experiential education, to become ethically minded business leaders who are committed to creating an equitable and sustainable global society. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach software development and other computer science topics at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Establish a research agenda, demonstrating the ability or potential to produce quality peer-reviewed journal articles and other intellectual contributions.
- Advise students and serve on university and college committees.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science or Related Field (or a PhD in business with a concentration in Computer Science).
- ABD candidates will also be considered if evidence is provided that a doctoral degree will be conferred before May 15, 2026.
- Good communication skills and a commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD from an AACSB-accredited institution.
- Experience teaching undergraduate courses in Computer Science. Applications are encouraged from all sub-specializations.
- Work experience in software development.
- Experience teaching students from diverse populations and demonstrated experience creating or leading computer science programs.
- Experience in creating and implementing experiential learning projects in computer science.
- The ability to advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Previous teaching experience at HSIs or minority-serving institutions.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary and FLSA Status
FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
SALARY: $60,000 - $80,000
