Job Summary

The College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences at Purdue University Northwest announces an exciting opportunity to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Faculty position in our CACREP Accredited Master of Science in Education, Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling Programs to start August 2026. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses, participate in program governance as a core faculty member, provide supervision for graduate student counselors, and have the opportunity to collaborate on research or develop new projects.

Position Responsibilities and Description

The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member (meeting CACREP faculty eligibility requirements) in our in-person accredited program. Standard expectations of the position include that the incumbent will:

  • Teach graduate level courses within the counseling program;
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with supervisors in community mental health agencies and schools through providing supervision and clinical oversight for students in internships;
  • Participate in program governance (e.g. work collaboratively on accreditation and program improvement efforts);
  • Collaborate with faculty within and outside of the School of Education and Counseling on scholarly activities; and
  • Participate in beneficial service to the school, college, university, community, and profession.

Of particular interest are candidates who would be excited, willing, and/or able to teach courses such as Human Growth & Development, Research, Assessment, or Practicum.

Qualifications / Requirements

The School of Education and Counseling is seeking applicants who have earned a doctoral degree in counselor education, from a CACREP-accredited program. Applicants must be licensed, or license-eligible within one year of employment, as a clinical mental health or school counselor in Indiana.

  • Doctoral degree from a CACREP Accredited Counselor Education and Supervision Program
  • Licensure in Indiana and Illinois, or eligibility, by start date (or within one year of start date)
  • Minimum two years of experience providing counseling services
  • Training and ability to provide supervision for Master’s level counseling students in either Community Mental Health Counseling, or School Counseling
  • Evidence of ability to conduct scholarly activity in counseling, counseling education, and/or school counseling

The School of Education and Education programs are accredited by the State of Indiana, and nationally accredited through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The Counseling Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling programs are accredited through the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
