Chronological specialization and methodological approach open, but a preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to the War & Violence track of the department’s thriving MA program. A preference will also be given to candidates with experience in public history (and who therefore can support the department’s public history initiatives).

Other Requirements for the Position

Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to engaging Sam Houston State University’s undergraduate and graduate students. Experience delivering successful online graduate courses in history a plus. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester, including one or both halves of the United States history survey, as well as upper-division and graduate courses in the candidate’s area(s) of specialization.

If a candidate has not completed the doctorate, one letter must be from the candidate’s advisor, addressing the state of the dissertation.
