The Department of History at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenured Associate Professorship in the history of the United States with a focus on gender and sexuality in the twentieth century. The appointment will begin on or after July 1, 2026. We welcome applications from specialists in the history of gender and sexuality. Applicants with a focus on political economy and the history of rural economies and communities is preferred. The successful applicant will have a record of publication in leading venues in the field and will be an excellent teacher in their field.
