"Assistant Professor of Instruction"

The Ohio University School of Communication Studies invites applications for one full-time Assistant Professor of Instruction position to commence August 16, 2026. The School of Communication Studies seeks a communication generalist to teach standard courses and to serve as the John A. Cassese Director of Forensics. The Director of Forensics' responsibilities include: 1) develop and maintain relationships with alumni; 2) work with advancement on fund raising activities that support the forensic team; 3) effectively manage the forensic team budget; 4) provide student-centered coaching to team members; and 5) develop and execute effective team member recruitment. This position involves in-person teaching and coaching on Ohio University's main campus in Athens, OH. There are no research expectations for this position.

The position is for a student-centered teacher who is committed to engaged student learning and who can serve as Director of OHIO's historic and highly successful forensic team. The successful candidate will have a strong record of effective teaching and forensic coaching and will exhibit appreciation for diverse theoretical and methodological approaches to communication. Applicants must hold a Master's in Communication Studies or equivalent degree with a Ph.D. in Communication Studies preferred. Ability to teach courses in communication theory, quantitative research methods, meeting & event planning is desired.
