Lecturers in Communication Studies
Position Summary
The Department of Communication Studies seeks applications for two (2) full-time lecturer positions beginning August 1, 2026. These positions are renewable annually with full benefits. The teaching load for this position is four classes in each of the fall and spring semesters.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Communication at time of appointment.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
Candidates should have at least one year of teaching experience at the college level.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Successful candidates should be able to teach undergraduate courses in social science approaches to communication, humanities approaches, or both.
- Successful candidates with a social science orientation should be able to teach introduction to interpersonal communication, small group communication, empirical research methods, interviewing, and/or nonverbal communication.
- Successful candidates with a humanities orientation should be able to teach introduction to public speaking, business communication, oral decision making, rhetorical criticism, advanced public speaking, and/or case studies in public communication.
Candidates should exhibit excellence in teaching and/or promise of superior teaching reflected in innovative ideas about coursework in interpersonal communication or public speaking and social scientific or humanistic approaches to communication. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate their ability to teach introduction to interpersonal communication or introduction to public speaking for STEM students.
