Assistant Professor of Interior Design
Meredith College invites qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track, faculty position as Assistant Professor in Interior Design.
Duties:
- Full-time academic position with a focus on on-campus teaching.
- Teach undergraduate courses within the interior design field.
- Cultivate and strengthen connections with potential students, industry professionals, and relevant professional organizations.
- Maintain an active record of professional practice in Interior Design.
- Active involvement within the college, school, and department.
- Student advising and mentoring, scholarship and/or professional activity engagement are required.
Qualifications:
- Earned degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture required.
- Master’s degree, MFA, or PhD must be earned at the start of the position.
- NCIDQ certification and/or license required.
- Professional design experience required.
- Record of successful teaching experience preferred.
- Experience with the CIDA accreditation process is preferred.

Academic Environment The Interior Design Program is housed within the Department of Human Environmental Sciences, which also includes programs in Child Development, Fashion Merchandising and Design, and Family and Consumer Sciences. Meredith’s Interior Design program, which has been CIDA accredited since 1993, emphasizes professional practice and prepares students for success in positions in commercial and residential design.
