Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
Our students experience world-class instruction in the Department of Mathematics from faculty who are deeply invested in student success. Nearly all courses offered by the department are designed and taught entirely by full-time faculty. Our small classes allow instructors to develop close individualized relationships with students that sets them on a path for success whether majoring in mathematics or many other related disciplines. Our department has a vibrant research culture and actively engages in mentoring students in original research projects. Our graduates are fully prepared to enter the workforce in industry or academia where deep analytic and quantitative skills are in high demand.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teach both lower-division and upper-division undergraduate Mathematics courses.
- Contribute professional service to the department, college, university and/or the professional community.
- Establish and maintain a program of high-quality research that includes regular publication in peer-reviewed journals, dissemination of research at conferences, and ongoing efforts to obtain external research funding and supervise undergraduate research.
- A strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate level mathematics courses ranging from general education courses through more advanced mathematics courses.
- A strong commitment to student success.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- PhD, or the foreign equivalent, in Mathematics (or common variations on the name such as Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics or Mathematical Sciences) with an emphasis in analysis, algebra, applied mathematics, or discrete mathematics (or related mathematical areas) at the time of hire.
- Research experience in analysis, algebra, applied mathematics, or discrete mathematics (or related mathematical areas) and a record of scholarly products produced from such research.
- Research areas that would complement and/or augment the existing faculty research strengths in the Department of Mathematics will also be highly considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral experience
- Potential for obtaining external research funding
