"Assistant Professor of Physics"

The Department of Physics at Old Dominion University (ODU) and the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) are seeking applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Physics. Duties are as follows: Teach graduate and undergraduate physics courses, including Analytical Mechanics and Introduction to Quantum Mechanics. Initiate and maintain a strong, externally funded research program in nuclear and hadronic physics, and help support Jefferson Lab's science program. Promote department inclusivity while contributing to efforts geared toward increasing participation among members of under-represented groups in science. The position requires the following: A Ph.D. in Nuclear/Particle Physics or a closely related field. Preferences: Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research supervision at both the undergraduate and graduate levels preferred but not required. Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required. Research experience in nuclear structure and fundamental symmetries is preferred but not required. Would hire without the above preferences.
