Assistant Professor of Psychology and Online Program Chair
Assistant Professor of Psychology and Online Program Chair,
Florida Institute of Technology
Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor in Psychology to join our program faculty beginning in August 2026. This position blends teaching with administrative leadership for our undergraduate online AA and BA programs in Applied Psychology, with opportunities for independent scholarship. Responsibilities include overseeing key elements of program operations and teaching both online and on campus at our Melbourne campus. The area of teaching expertise is open, and the typical teaching load for this position is three courses per semester, traditionally two eight-week online courses and one on-campus course.
Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. (or expected prior to the August 2026 start date) in Psychology or a related discipline, experience teaching students both in person and online, and evidence of ongoing scholarly engagement. While prior experience supporting academic programs, such as coordinating online courses, working with faculty or students, or helping manage program operations, is welcomed, candidates demonstrating interest and potential for administrative leadership in an online environment are strongly encouraged to apply.
Online Applied Psychology Program
Our online programs offer a flexible, student-centered learning environment with 8-week asynchronous courses designed to support working professionals. Instructors serve as facilitators and mentors, engaging students through meaningful discussion board interactions, providing timely feedback, and guiding learners through their academic journey. With lecture content and course materials expertly prepared in advance, faculty can focus on fostering a vibrant online learning community.
In this role, the successful candidate will support the effective operation and enhancement of the online AA and BA programs by assigning instructors, addressing student concerns, and engaging in assessment processes. The candidate will benefit from mentoring and sustained support designed to strengthen both teaching and administrative effectiveness.
Looking ahead, we have several course redevelopment initiatives planned, offering opportunities to collaborate with instructional designers, contribute subject-matter expertise, and help shape the future direction of our programs. These efforts will support ongoing innovation and ensure our courses remain accessible and effective for learners with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
