Assistant Professor of Psychology - Developmental Psychology

Augustana University (Sioux Falls, SD) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology with expertise in Developmental Psychology or a related area, to begin Fall 2026. A doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology or a related area is expected by the position start date.

Teaching:

We seek candidates who are passionate about excellent undergraduate teaching. The teaching load is 3 classes in Fall, 3 in Spring and 1 in January term. Faculty have their first January and subsequently every third January off from teaching to use the time for professional development.

Candidates should be able to teach Lifespan Human Development and another undergraduate course in Developmental Psychology, and may teach other courses related to their expertise. They should also teach at least one of: Research Methods, General Psychology, or First Year Seminar.

Research:

Augustana offers lab space and funding for faculty research programs and conference travel. Faculty mentor undergraduate students in research, and the ideal candidate will have an active research program involving students.

The Psychology Department at Augustana University consists of six full-time faculty with expertise in various areas of psychology. It supports hands-on learning and interdisciplinary connections.
