Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Psychology. The successful candidate will teach a range of psychology courses, including General Psychology, Child Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. This position includes curriculum development, student advising, and participation in departmental and college-wide service. The position will begin in Spring 2026, but there may be some flexibility on the start date, depending upon the selected candidate's availability.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Teach five sections of Psychology per semester, including General Psychology, Child Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and other 200-level courses, to a diverse student body.
  2. Develop, implement, and assess student learning outcomes and curriculum at the course, discipline, program, and college level.
  3. Integrate effective use of instructional technologies in both in person and distance learning environments.
  4. Serve as Academic Advisor to approximately eighteen (18) students (45 hours per semester).
  5. Hold a minimum of four (4) office hours per week (60 hours per semester).
  6. Participate in Department, Division, and College meetings.
  7. Be committed to department initiatives to support the college's mission and values.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Clinical Social Work or in a related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Psychology, all from an accredited institution.
  2. Experience teaching General Psychology and the ability to teach Child Psychology and/or Abnormal Psychology.
  3. Ability to teach in multiple instructional modalities, including in-person, synchronous and asynchronous online formats.
  4. Experience integrating teaching strategies that support diversity, equity, and inclusion for students of diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds.
  5. Experience using Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.).
  6. Experience incorporating active learning strategies that engage students in critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application of psychological concepts.
  7. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Doctorate in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.), with emphasis on Clinical/Developmental Psychology.
  2. Experience teaching at the community college level.
  3. Experience serving as a Program Coordinator or willingness to do so.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION: Full-time, tenure-track, MCCC Unit position with anticipated Annual Salary Range of $52,880-$71,854. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience as determined by a formula-based classification system, consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
