Assistant Professor of Public Speaking and Communication
The School of English and Humanities at Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment for Assistant Professor of Public Speaking and Communication beginning in Fall 2026. The 4/4 teaching load will primarily include introductory courses in public speaking (7-8 sections per year) with an occasional elective in the BA in Humanities degree program. A Ph.D. in Communication Studies or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates who have completed their doctoral coursework and those with a master’s degree in Communication Studies may also be considered for the position. The successful candidate will have a clearly articulated teaching philosophy; experience with first-generation, non-traditional, and/or traditionally underserved student populations; and a record of teaching excellence. Spartanburg Methodist College has a long history of providing excellent undergraduate education for students who are traditionally underserved in higher education. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
