About the Social Work Department:
The Social Work Department has a long established BSW program (since 1985), and a new MSW program (launched fall 2025). The department has a strong commitment to preparing future professionals ready to enter the workforce as generalist social work practitioners and/or pursue graduate education in social work or other disciplines. The Department is committed to ensuring anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion (ADEI) concepts and practices are infused throughout the implicit and explicit curriculum. The Social Work Department is seeking an applicant for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2026. Faculty are responsible for a 4/4 teaching load (which includes an automatic 1/1 course release for research until tenured) and the candidate is expected to be able to teach research and policy as well as other courses throughout the BSW & MSW curriculum. In addition to teaching excellence, tenure and promotion guidelines for the department require faculty to engage in research and scholarship that result in publications and presentations. Service expectations include service to the department, the university, and the profession. Examples of service include academic advising, holding administrative positions in the department, serving on university-wide committees or initiatives, etc.
Annual Salary: $75,890.00 with a terminal degree
The hiring salary above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.
Requirements:
- Minimum of an MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program or equivalency established.
- Experience teaching a research methods and/or policy course.
- Commitment to the NASW Code of Ethics.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Siena University.

Preferred Qualifications
- PhD/DSW in Social Work, Social Welfare or related field
- Prior university teaching experience
- Minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience.
