The Department of Mathematics at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level with the appointment to begin in August 2026.

Candidates for this position must have a solid theoretical and applied background in statistics and a passion for teaching and research. The successful candidate will contribute to the statistics community at Cal State Fullerton through teaching, research, professional activities, and service.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching a wide spectrum of theoretical and applied courses in statistics and data science at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Conducting research resulting in publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals within a collaborative faculty-student environment
- Mentoring students and guiding them towards post-graduation success
- Contributing to curriculum development by incorporating modern statistical and data science approaches to existing courses or creating new courses
- Serving on departmental and university-wide committees
A successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a transdisciplinary Titan Supercomputing Center and contribute to the growth of the Statistical Consulting Center within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must:
- Have earned a Ph.D. in statistics or a related field. All degree requirements must be completed prior to the starting date
- Have demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring students
- Have a well-defined research agenda
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching students of diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Be able to contribute to undergraduate and graduate curriculum development
- Evidence of the potential to supervise undergraduate and master's level students in research
- Evidence of or a strong interest in participating in interdisciplinary, collaborative research
- Plan for seeking internal and external funding

Compensation
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6,221 to $13,224 monthly. The anticipated hiring range is $7,206 to $7,350 per month. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
