"Assistant Professor of Statistics"

The Department of Statistics at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon seeks applicants for tenure-track assistant professor positions with interest in teaching and research in statistics, data science, and/or artificial intelligence (AI). We are seeking energetic and creative statisticians with an interest in data science and/or AI, especially those with a broad range of interests in data-driven methodological and collaborative research and who will contribute to the development and teaching of courses in data science and/or artificial intelligence (AI). We encourage applications from candidates with interest in interdisciplinary research, particularly in one of OSU’s four focus areas: climate science and related solutions, clean energy and related solutions, robotics, and integrated health and biotechnology. Qualified applicants will have a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Computer Science, AI, or in a related field by the start of the appointment in September 2026.

The positions involve:

• Teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate level in Statistics and Data Science
• Developing a program of research and scholarship in statistics, data science, and/or AI that is recognized at the national and international levels and collaborating with colleagues on and off campus as appropriate in the development of the scholarly work
• Seeking grant and contract funding
• Mentoring MS and PhD students
• Fostering an environment of inclusion and diversity
• Providing service to the department and institution in support of their missions

We are a collegial department consisting of 23 faculty members including 15 tenure-track faculty members, approximately 20 PhD and 30 MS students in Statistics. In addition to our on-campus graduate programs in Statistics, we offer a popular on-line MS program in Data Analytics and an undergraduate BS program in Data Science.
