Job Description
Basic Function: The successful candidate will be responsible for physics lecture and laboratory instruction.
The ideal candidate will share RCC's and the commitment of the department of Physical Science to educating its racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse student population...
Education:
Master's in physics, astronomy or astrophysics OR Bachelor's in physics or astronomy AND Master's in engineering, mathematics, meteorology or geophysics OR the equivalent. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions.)
Experience:
Teaching experience at the college level is required. A minimum of one year (two semesters or three quarters) of experience teaching physics as instructor of record at a community college or baccalaureate-level institution is required.
The ideal candidate will (1) have recent experience working with African American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native American and other racially/ethnically, socioeconomically minoritized students in the classroom; (2) possess an understanding of how historical patterns have shaped the experiences and representation of these students within higher education... (3) demonstrate a willingness to examine and refine instructional, relational, and classroom practices... (4) demonstrate experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom.
