Assistant Professor Pre-1900 US History
The Yale University Department of History intends to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor in U.S. History, to begin on July 1, 2026, with particular attention to applicants specializing in the period before 1900. Applicants should have strong potential for excellence and achievement in scholarship and in undergraduate and graduate teaching. The successful candidate will offer general and specific courses in the history of the United States before 1900. We welcome applications from historians who already hold teaching positions, as well as recent Ph.D.s and those who expect their Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the time of appointment.
