Job Description:

The Department of Psychology at Salve Regina University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will primarily teach and serve undergraduate psychology students, but opportunities to teach and work with students in the department's behavior analysis master's and Ph.D. programs are available to interested candidates.

The ideal candidate would be able to teach courses in developmental psychology and special topics in their areas of expertise, in addition to standard psychology courses, such as Introduction to Psychology. A teaching load commensurate with the other duties of the position is set at seven courses per year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include teaching, maintaining productive research and scholarship, advising undergraduate students, and participating in service at the university, local, and national levels.

Requirements:

Required qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Psychology - Must be completed prior to Fall 2026
• Evidence of Research Potential including Peer-reviewed publications or strong pipeline.
• Ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in psychology.
• Evidence of effective teaching (e.g., teaching evaluations, sample syllabi).
• Demonstrated experience in working with diverse student populations.
• Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Postdoctoral Experience
• Established Record of Publications and Grant Activity
• Ability to teach specific courses (Course titles)
• Experience mentoring students, especially undergraduate or graduate research assistants.
• Ability or interest in collaborating across departments or programs.
• Required or preferred for positions involving supervision of clinical trainees.
• Commitment to and prior experience with departmental, university, or professional service (e.g., journal reviewing, committee work).
