The Department of Teacher Education seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position for the health and physical education program beginning August 1, 2026. Position is an on-campus position with rank of Assistant Professor. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (face-to-face and online) in the teacher education department, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

The Department of Teacher Education is comprised of 30 faculty with 26 initial teacher, advanced teacher, and service degree programs. The department supports students at all levels of their career pathways and is a partner with schools and programs throughout the South Georgia region.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching up to 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring); maintaining scholarly productivity; participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Required Qualifications

• A terminal degree in Health and Physical Education or a closely related field by the appointment date
• Experience teaching PK-12 students
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship

Preferred Qualifications

• A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
• A record of mentoring students
• Face-to-Face and Online teaching experience
