Job Duties: The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track faculty member in the area of Finance (Corporate Finance, Investments, Financial Planning, Real Estate, Insurance, Banking, and/or Fintech) beginning August 2026 with rank to be determined at hire. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in BBA in Finance, MS in Finance, MBA, and/or DBA, research, and service to the university, community, and profession. Research and teaching expertise should complement existing faculty expertise.

Job Details: The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in Corporate Finance, Investments, Financial Planning, Real Estate, Insurance, Banking, and/or Fintech as part of the BBA in Finance, MS in Finance, MBA, and/or DBA. The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate and graduate students, results in publications and contributes to advancing the department, university, the profession, and society. The candidate will also be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.

Responsibilities: Full-Time teaching responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Finance and finance-related areas, such as real estate, financial planning, banking, insurance, and fintech. Research expectations include peer-reviewed journal articles, case studies, books (book chapters), and other intellectual contributions defined in the CoBE Faculty Handbook. In addition, faculty members serve as advisors/mentors to students and are encouraged to engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities. Service responsibilities include committee service at the departmental, college, and university levels as well as participation in community organizations and the discipline as relevant to the candidate’s expertise and interest. Faculty at UW-W may be required to teach in a variety of formats, including in-person, online and/or in a hybrid format, or courses in the evenings or on weekends. All students, faculty, and staff are expected to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW-Whitewater. Examples include, but are not limited to, Navigate, Canvas, and Microsoft Office applications – including Outlook, which is essential for university email communications and scheduling.

The Finance and Business Law Department is one of the seven departments in the College of Business and Economics. There are 17 full-time faculty and staff members supporting nearly 800 undergraduate (with majors, minors, and emphases in general Finance, investments, financial planning, real estate, insurance, banking, fintech, and business law) and graduate students enrolled in the Master of Science in Finance and Master of Business Administration programs. The Department also hosts three student organizations: the FMA, the Capital Markets Club, and the Real Estate Club.

The College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the largest AACSB-accredited business school in the state of Wisconsin. The College enrolls approximately 3,800 business undergraduate students and offers 15 majors and 26 emphases. Nearly 1,000 graduate students are enrolled in a breadth of online and on-campus programs, including the Masters of Business Administration (with 12 unique emphases, including Finance), Master of Science in Marketing, Master of Science in Cybersecurity, Master of Science in Data Analytics, Master of Science in Environmental Health and Safety, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Education in School Business Management, and the Doctorate of Business Administration.

Compensation: The minimum starting salary for this position will be $135,000, candidates can expect a salary commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications. UW System employees receive an excellent benefit package.

Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Finance or equivalent is required at the start of employment. ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2026; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2027 in advance of their first scheduled review. Demonstrated excellence in teaching with an emphasis on promoting the success of undergraduate and graduate students, clear evidence of scholarly potential, commitment to working with diverse populations and serving as active member of the university community. In addition, the candidate is expected to work well in teams, engage with students, and actively participate in department and university activities.
