The Institute of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Tsukuba invites applications for one Assistant Professor position in the field of Biochemical Engineering to promote research and education in the Applied Life Sciences area.
Work content and job description
The successful candidate will belong to the Institute of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Tsukuba, and will conduct research in Biochemical engineering research aimed at elucidating culture environmental factors and biological reactions that determine bioprocess performance; designing and controlling processes; developing novel related devices; creating innovative cultivation technologies that effectively utilize biological functions from an integrated perspective encompassing upstream to downstream bioprocess operations; and developing bioprocesses that achieve both reduced environmental impact and high productivity, with a view toward industrial applications.
In addition, the candidate will be responsible for education (teaching, student research supervision or assistance, etc.) in the field of Biochemical Engineering in the Degree Program in Agricultural Sciences, the Degree Program Agro-Bioresources Science and Technology, and Master's/Doctoral Program in Life Science Innovation within the Graduate School of Science and Technology; and the College of Agro-Biological Resource Sciences within the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Tsukuba. The candidate also contributes to the management and administrative activities in our faculty. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the management and administrative activities of the above-mentioned organizations.

Compensation
- Annual salary: 4 million yen - 6 million yen
- Wages description: Compensation will be provided in accordance with the University's regulations.
- Working hours: 08:30-17:15
- Break time: 12:15-13:15
- Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and December 29 to January 3.
- Overtime and other explanations: Based on mutual agreement, either a discretionary work system for professional work (deem working hours: 7 hours and 45 minutes per day) or a fixed working hour system (including a flexible working hour system) will be applied.
