Assistant Teaching Professor

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Colorado Boulder (https://www.colorado.edu/psych-neuro/) invites applications for a full-time Psychology Teaching Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. The Department has a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate education. We seek instructors who are committed to inclusive and effective undergraduate teaching, and who are prepared to contribute to the department’s broader educational mission through collaborative leadership. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach four psychology courses per semester that align with department priorities. These include core required courses for the major, such as Psychological Statistics, Research Methods in Psychology, and introductory courses (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, or Developmental Psychology). There may also be opportunities to teach upper-division courses (e.g., advanced special topics) in the candidate’s area of expertise. Applicants should have a PhD in Psychology or a related discipline.

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience has approximately 43 tenure track faculty and 12 teaching faculty. It offers separate bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience to 3,900+ majors. The department also offers doctoral graduate programs in 5 specialty areas (Behavioral Neuroscience; Behavioral, Psychiatric, and Statistical Genetics; Clinical Psychology; Cognitive Psychology; and Social Psychology).

This position includes teaching 4 courses (or their equivalent) each semester, departmental service, and active engagement in pedagogical initiatives within the department and across campus (e.g., https://www.colorado.edu/program/learningassistant/). The successful candidate will be prepared to teach 4 psychology courses that align with department priorities. Department priorities include the instruction of core required courses for the major. These include Psychological Statistics, Research Methods in Psychology, and introductory courses (e.g., Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, or Clinical Psychology). There may also be opportunities to teach upper division psychology courses (e.g., advanced special topics courses) in the candidate’s specialty area.

$73,000-$77,000 salary. A moving allowance of up to $3,000 may be available to the successful candidate.

Applicants should have a PhD in Psychology or a related discipline.

A strong commitment to undergraduate education.

Evidence of excellence in teaching Statistics and/or Research Methods at the undergraduate level. Experience using R and RStudio. Experience teaching large classes. Commitment to innovation in teaching, including teaching with technology. Experience supporting and engaging students from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and prior knowledge to help them succeed in the classroom.
