Assistant Track and Field Coach – Jumps
Chatham University is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to serve as the Assistant Track and Field Coach – Jumps. This position is responsible for assisting in the coaching and development of student-athletes in the horizontal and vertical jumps (long jump, triple jump, high jump) and supporting the overall success of the women’s and men’s track & field programs. The role includes practice planning, skill instruction, athlete mentorship, recruiting support, and meet-day responsibilities.
Assistant Track and Field Coach a part-time, seasonal position with evening and weekend hours required, particularly during the competition season.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions for jumpers.
- Provide technical instruction and individual development plans for athletes specializing in long jump, triple jump, high jump.
- Attend all scheduled practices, competitions, and team meetings.
- Monitor academic performance and support the holistic development of student-athletes.
- Promote a culture of respect, integrity, and sportsmanship consistent with the values of Chatham University and the NCAA Division III philosophy.
- Ensure adherence to all university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Assist with team travel, equipment management, and administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching or competing in jump events at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in athletics.
Preferred:
- Experience coaching at the collegiate level.
- Familiarity with NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
- Certifications in CPR/First Aid and/or relevant coaching certifications (USATF, USTFCCCA).
