Assistant Wrestling Coach (2 Positions)
Department Summary
This position reports to the head coach and is responsible for providing coaching expertise and leadership of the intercollegiate athletics program; assisting the head coach in the effective management and administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes, and other administrative duties.
Primary accountabilities:
- Teaching and coaching student-athletes in order to develop and acquire the extensive tactical, technical and physical knowledge required to be a competitive Division I intercollegiate level student-athlete. Responsible for skill instruction during individual and team practices and intercollegiate athletic competitions.
- Talent assessment and recruitment. Assists in conducting a successful recruiting program to identify and cultivate outstanding student-athletes to Ohio University.
- Assist with the administration of the Wrestling budget including budget management and team travel arrangements.
Position Profile
Develops and maintains competitive intercollegiate sport programs. Directs all aspects of sport staff in recruiting, practice and game competitions. Responsible for the recruitment/hiring, goal setting, coaching and performance review of all sport staff. Instructs and teaches student-athletes in fundamentals of sport technique and strategy. Plans and executes practice and competition plans including the evaluation of opponents. Evaluates and recruits qualified student-athletes.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1-2 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Division I wrestling experience.
