The College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) at Augusta University is seeking an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) graduate program. The SLP faculty position requires a willingness and commitment to engage with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development. Job responsibilities will include teaching, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and vision of the SLP department and program. Additional job duties will include the organization, coordination, and communication with prospective students throughout the application and admissions process. This is a non-tenure track position.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 80%
Student instruction in the Master of Health Sciences in Speech-Language Pathology Graduate program.
Scholarship - 10%
Participate in scholarship activities to include research, presentations, and publications
Service - 10%
Participate in service to the institution, college and department by serving on committees at all levels.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in Speech-Language Pathology or a closely related field. Consideration may be given to candidates who are ABD with an anticipated completion date prior to the start of employment.
Applicants must demonstrate evidence of academic preparation and clinical expertise in speech-language pathology, with the ability to teach at the graduate level.
Current certification in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-SLP)
Eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Georgia (or current Georgia licensure)
Assistant Professor- early-level career as a faculty member 0-4 years' experience is related field.
Associate Professor- mid-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience in a CAA-accredited graduate program; Experience with clinical supervision of graduate students; Record of scholarly activity or strong potential for research productivity; Expertise in specialty areas (e.g., dysphagia, voice disorders, neurogenic communication disorders, pediatric language disorders);Experience with interprofessional education and collaboration; Familiarity with accreditation standards and program assessment processes; Strong communication, mentorship, and leadership skills
At least 7 years experience as a speech language pathology and 7 years in teaching.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
