8:30am - 5:00pm (academic year)
8:00am - 4:30pm (summer)

Job Description:

The Associate Director of Admissions for the Metropolitan New York Office will represent Syracuse University in the five boroughs, parts of Westchester and Long Island. The Associate Director will play an integral role in developing and implementing a data-driven recruitment strategy for the region. Responsibilities include identifying, recruiting and enrolling qualified prospective students through conducting interviews, visiting high schools, attending college fairs, serving on panels, and developing relationships with college counselors and community-based organizations.

Additionally, the Associate Director will create and participate in recruitment events at Lubin House, conduct presentations and facilitate school and college recruitment outreach at Lubin House and in the region. While based at Lubin House in NYC, the Associate Director will be a member of the Admissions Committee evaluating applications and participating in online information sessions and interviews.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree is required; masters preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in admissions or related field.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Must live and have the ability to use public transportation in New York City.
  • Must report to work in person at Lubin House, our NYC Office.

  • Knowledge of Metropolitan New York region.

Responsibilities:

Development and implementation of the strategic plan and initiatives to support recruitment in the Metropolitan NY region, including parts of Long Island and Westchester. Responsibilities include:

  • Research, track, and develop data resources to inform and monitor recruitment initiatives via Slate.
  • Develop and implement the strategic regional travel plan using Slate.
  • Supervise recruiting in the Metropolitan NY region through strategic collaborations with main campus admissions and school/college representatives.
  • Develop initiatives and conduct programing at Lubin house throughout the cycle such as interest-based programs, information sessions, workshops and yield programs.
  • Develop and supervise an alumni team to participate in recruitment events.
  • Develop and mobilize regional counselor advisory committee to advise on policies and recruitment programming.
  • Develop and implement strategic joint programming with advancement/alumni affairs.
  • Visit high schools, attend college nights and college fairs.
  • Serve on panels and conduct college preparedness workshops for high schools and community-based organizations.
  • Conduct school on-site interviews.
  • Serve as a primary liaison for the Office of Admissions in NYC.

Data analysis and forecasting:

  • Develop and implement a data collection and analysis strategy to better support forecasting efforts.
  • Create forecasting models from the collected data for the metropolitan NY region, including parts of Long Island and Westchester.

Application review. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a Team Leader for a school/college.
  • Supervise and oversee the reading team and monitor decisions.
  • Complete review by designated deadlines.

Communication:

  • Participate in virtual information sessions through main campus programming.
  • Assist with main campus virtual interviews.
  • Personal outreach to prospective students and follow-up to visits.
  • Cultivate relationships with all constituents in the region.
  • Develop relationships with SU academic areas and departments, i.e., schools and colleges, advancement, alumni affairs, etc.

Budget Management. Responsibilities include:

  • Propose and monitor spending.
  • Submit expenses on a timely basis throughout the year.
  • Provide budget update semi-annually and as requested.
  • Provide budgetary estimates for new initiatives and strategies proposed and do return on investment analysis on existing strategies to evaluate continuation.
