We’re currently searching for an Associate Director for Services for Students with Disabilities to join our Services for Students with Disabilities team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re interested, please keep reading.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:

1. You’ll be joining the Services for Students with Disabilities team; a department centered on access and inclusion by determining reasonable accommodations for students in the living and learning environment.
2. You’ll be reporting to the Director in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
3. You’ll lead and develop a team of four full-time staff members who provide auxiliary aid and services to students with disabilities.
4. You'll administer strategic initiatives—including departmental communications, Student Affairs and Virginia Tech priorities, and cross-campus collaborations—based on guidance from the director.
5. You'll drive research and assessment outcomes into operational improvements.
6. You'll act as a liaison and problem-solver for faculty, students, campus partners, and parents.
7. You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
8. You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $75,000 - $85,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience with supervising full-time professionals.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws governing disability rights and accommodations (ADA, Section 504, etc.).
• Working knowledge of AHEAD standards and best practices for student disability services.
• Proficient in effectively communicating with multiple stakeholders.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Professional experience working with students with disabilities in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree and/or equivalent amount of experience working in disability services in higher education.
• Experience with universal design for learning (UDL) principles.

Overtime Status Exempt: Not eligible for overtime

Appointment Type Regular

Salary Information $75,000 - $85,000

Work Schedule Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; some nights and weekends

Hours per week 40
