Associate Director of Didactic Education, Assistant/Associate Clinical or Tenure-Track Professor, Physician Assistant Department, Flint College of Health Sciences (Hybrid)

The Associate Director of Didactic Education will provide effective leadership of didactic education within the Masters of Science PA (MSPA) Program. This includes planning, coordinating, facilitating, administering, monitoring, and assessment of PA Program didactic education. Serves as principal PA Program faculty and engage in teaching, scholarship, and service. The position is a 12-month faculty position as an Assistant/Associate Clinical or Tenure-Track Professor.

Associate Director of Didactic Education:

  • Developing and coordinating PA Program didactic education;
  • Performing ongoing review and analysis through programmatic assessment of the program;
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting performance data of didactic phase of the program;
  • Assisting the Program Director in managing databases and the processes of data collection and analysis for the didactic phase of the program;
  • Coordinating the scheduling of program and faculty in order to optimize delivery of instructional content to students;
  • Monitoring each course's student workload;
  • Collaborating with Program Director to assess program faculty and LEO workload hours;
  • Identifying and ordering program supplies and educational resources in collaboration with faculty to meet ongoing needs throughout the program;
  • Monitoring MSPA student academic and professional performance to assure compliance with departmental policies;
  • Collaborating with Assistant Director of Clinical Education to evaluate and fill gaps in program curriculum;
  • Charing a PA Program standing committee as directed by the Program Director;
  • Assisting Department Director to ensure curriculum meets current practice standards and scope, and complies with ARC-PA requirements; and
  • Serving on the PA Program Management Team

Assistant/Associate Clinical or Tenure-Track Professor:

Teaching

As a faculty leader, the Associate Director of Didactic Education is also expected to demonstrate exemplary teaching throughout the MSPA curriculum.

Scholarship

Maintains personal scholarship according to the College of Health Sciences scholarship requirements for clinical or tenure-track faculty. Clinical-track faculty are required to have an active research agenda, establish their ability to conduct independent research, and work collaboratively with other faculty in scholarly endeavors. In both clinical and tenure tracks, scholarly work is expected to make a contribution to, and an impact on, the profession/discipline, to interdisciplinary areas, and/or to pedagogical endeavors.

Service

All CHS faculty members are expected to provide service to the University, college, department, profession, and the community. Consistent with the mission of CHS and the University, professional service contributions to the Flint and regional community are valued as well as national and international contributions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current CHS Physician Assistant Department faculty members who hold the needed experience and education to be considered an Assistant/Associate Clinical or Tenure-Track Professor at the time of application
  • For a Clinical-Track position: A Master's or doctoral degree in Physician Assistant, or a Bachelor's in Physician Assistant with a Master's or doctoral degree in a relevant discipline; Professional/Clinical experience involving direct patient care: Clinical Assistant Professor - 3 years; Clinical Associate Professor - 5 years
  • For a Tenure-Track position: A Bachelor's or Master's in Physician Assistant and a PhD or related academic doctoral degree in a relevant discipline
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current/eligible for PA licensure in the state of Michigan
  • Prior experience in PA education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Senior faculty status
  • Demonstrated scholarly productivity
  • Experience producing detailed technical reports
