Job Description:

The Associate Director of Housing Operations and Community and Belonging provides leadership, strategic direction, and management for the university’s housing operations, which encompass 18 residence halls and more than 2,150 beds. This position plays a critical role in enhancing the residential experience and cultivating an inclusive campus environment.

The Associate Director coordinates with staff to manage Living Learning Community applications and placements, while also overseeing the daily operations of the Office of Residential Life and the Office of Community and Belonging. Key areas of responsibility include communication and marketing, student staff supervision, cultural center oversight, and serving as a liaison to campus partners.

This is a 12-month, full-benefit position that includes a partially furnished apartment with utilities. The Associate Director participates in the Professional Staff On-Call rotation, which includes some evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning, goal setting, and assessment for all aspects of campus housing operations.
  • Oversee all housing processes, including room assignments, lotteries, Living Learning Community placements, accommodations, and summer housing.
  • Ensure all residence halls are ready for occupancy and collaborate with Facilities Management to address maintenance issues promptly.
  • Serve as a liaison between Residential Life and other departments, including Disability Services, Counseling, Health Services, Public Safety, and Academic Deans.
  • Oversee operations and facilities management for all Cultural Centers and lead programming for cultural and heritage months.
  • Serve in the Professional Staff On-Call rotation (approximately one week per month) as a Tier 1 responder.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master’s degree and a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in residence life, housing operations, or student leadership
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success, personal growth, and community engagement.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • Proven dedication to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Cultural competence and humility; experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Foundational knowledge of faith traditions and religious literacy.
  • Direct experience supporting international, BIPOC, first-generation, low-income, LGBTQIA+, faith-based, and disabled students.
  • Ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, work independently, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Broad knowledge of issues and trends affecting undergraduate students in higher education.

Preferred:

  • Experience using Residence or similar housing management software.
  • Experience or understanding of working within a gender-diverse women’s college environment.
  • Experience facilitating social justice education workshops or dialogues.
  • Prior experience collaborating with diverse professional teams, including interfaith, intercultural, and cross-identity groups.

Full Job Description

Hiring Range: $76,806 - $88,326
