Position Overview
The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Nursing at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
The successful candidate may be named to the CAMH Chair in Mental Health Nursing Research for a five-year term, renewable following a favourable review. This Chair is supported by a $2 million endowment to integrate research, education, and clinical work in advancing mental health nursing research.
Qualifications
- Entry-to-practice degree (BScN or MN) in nursing.
- PhD in nursing or a related discipline.
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching.
- Strong program of research in mental health nursing, focusing on:
- Healthcare pathways, transitions, and optimized patient experience
- Implementation of best evidence and emerging practices
- Patient-reported outcomes
- Nursing care of patients with mental health conditions
- Practice-based research in nursing and health disciplines
- Clinical nurse scholar experience with publications in leading journals, externally funded research, and focus on care transitions, care outcomes, self-managed or digital/remote solutions for patient experience and care models.
- Experience in teaching, mentoring, or supervising diverse groups of students, and fostering diversity in curriculum or nursing profession.
- Established international reputation and capability to sustain a competitive, externally funded research program.
- Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level.
- Integrate research, education, and clinical work to advance mental health nursing research.
- Contribute to teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Foster diversity and inclusion within the faculty, curriculum, and professional nursing community.
