The Associate Vice President, Information Technology Services is responsible for information technology planning, operations and for developing and implementing strategic technology initiatives. As the head of ITS s/he is responsible for all aspects of information technology management and control; budget preparation and management; planning and recommendations for capital technology improvements and technical acquisitions; the development of policies, guidelines, standards and procedures; and the supervision and development of ITS staff.
This position provides leadership, advice and support for all information technology initiatives for the college both in the administrative realm and in the instructional. Due to the extreme diversity of applications and infrastructure across the college this role must be able to work effectively with all stakeholders to achieve best practices for system implementation, security and, to the extent possible, cost effectiveness.
To achieve this the AVP, ITS must continually plan and implement a robust technology infrastructure, including but not limited to on-premises networks, servers, storage and desktop systems, highly resilient internet access and the maintenance and management of an ever-growing portfolio of cloud based computing systems, applications and services.
The ongoing planning, implementation and evaluation of the colleges IT architecture to ensure the colleges ability to support administrative and instruction technology needs with up-to-date solutions is a critical part of this role.
Finally, the position will provide leadership with regards to IT and IT implementations championing the mission of IT while interacting with college leadership, management and staff at all levels throughout the institution.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, management, or related field from an accredited post-secondary institution is required.
Education Preferred: An advanced degree from an institutionally accredited post-secondary institution is strongly preferred, ideally in a technical area.
Experience Required: 10 years of progressive IT experience with at least 5 years in a senior IT leadership role within a higher education institution or similarly complex, decentralized environment reflecting increasing complexity and responsibility. Demonstrated experience managing IT operations in academic settings with ERP systems and subsequent learning, student, and classroom modules.
Experience Preferred: Experience managing a cloud computing environment. Experience as an Information Systems architect. Experience with higher education, ideally spanning instructional and administrative computing is desired, however, qualified candidates that can bring innovations to GTCC from other industries will be considered.
