Associate Vice President, Institutional Effectiveness

Madison College is hiring an Associate Vice President, Institutional Effectiveness. This position provides strategic leadership in institutional effectiveness by overseeing college-wide planning and assessment, accreditation, research, and data governance to ensure strategic decision-making. Success in this role involves leading a team of staff, leading and coordinating accreditation and compliance efforts and overseeing data governance and unit planning. This position contributes to institutional objectives by leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the planning and effectiveness framework and fostering a culture of informed decision-making across the college.

This position is in the vibrant and diverse city of Madison, Wisconsin's 2nd largest city and state capital.

Accountabilities:

  • Leads, supports and develops teams to ensure accountability of institutional objectives and operational excellence. This includes effective deployment of human resources practices such as inclusive hiring, performance management principles, development opportunities and employee support.
  • Contributes and engages in budgetary, financial and procurement decisions that ensure fiduciary responsibility while meeting operational and institutional goals.
  • Provides strategic leadership and coordination of institutional effectiveness functions by overseeing systems that promote continuous improvement, support evidence-based decision-making, and ensure alignment with the organization's mission, strategic goals, and core values.
  • Provides leadership and coordination for accreditation and compliance efforts by overseeing evaluations, reporting, quality initiatives, and site visit preparation, ensuring organizational alignment with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees data governance and information management systems to ensure the integrity, accessibility, and effective use of organizational data.
  • Directs annual unit planning, outcomes assessment, and data-informed decision-making to ensure alignment with the organization's strategic goals and core commitments.
  • Oversees responses to public record requests, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies, and provides guidance on complex or sensitive matters.
  • Oversees shared governance processes and policy administration to ensure transparency, consistency, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Creates an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment where everyone at the institution feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively lead and supervise staff in a collaborative, team-based environment to achieve institutional objectives.
  • Ability to make sound operational, management and financial decisions that support institutional goals, budget accountabilities and an effective work unit.
  • Skill in strategic leadership in institutional effectiveness, planning, or higher education administration.
  • Skill in institutional research, assessment, data governance, and business intelligence tools.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards, compliance reporting, and higher education policy.
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success through evidence-based strategies.
  • Skill in analysis and decision-making grounded in data-informed planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education Level: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant, progressive professional experience, including three (3) to five (5) years of people management.

Interviews are expected to take place: Round One Interviews (Virtual Format): September 30th, October 1st and 2nd; Round Two Interviews (Virtual Format): October 9th and 10th; Finalists will be invited to Madison October 20th and 21st to meet with stakeholders and tour our Truax Campus. Anticipated start date is mid-November 2025.
