Job Summary
A senior leader that will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight in the planning, design, and construction (PDC) of Institute facilities in support of the short and long- term space program and facilities needs of Georgia Tech. This position will be responsible for the oversight of projects at Georgia Tech properties located at domestic and international locations in collaboration with real estate. The position will have direct responsibility and accountability for PDC aspects involving new construction, renewal and renovation projects to meet the programmatic space needs of schools, colleges and departments. Responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
This position will interact on a regular basis with: Institute executives and department heads, EHS management and staff.
This position typically will advise and counsel: Institute executives, EHS management and staff, Provost, Research, and other senior leadership and members of the GT community.
This position will supervise: Assigned staff.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Provide day-to-day management and leadership in the development, implementation, and direction of projects and initiatives. Reviews projects upon completion in order to determine if project management goals were met
Job Duty 2 - Meets regularly with direct reports and staff to review current and future projects and is responsible for addressing all matters which may impact current and/or future projects and initiatives. Responsible for ensuring that the Institute's project delivery process is communicated, understood and followed by all reports as well as client stakeholders, vendors and consultants. Evaluates initiatives for strategic impact and/or expected outcomes using key performance indicators (KPI), metrics and continuous quality improvement
Job Duty 3 - Leads project teams in the pursuit of innovative and creative planning, design and construction solutions as the field of PDC evolves. Proposes and implements design standards and strategies for potential cost efficiencies and savings, design improvements, and work process changes relative to specific projects
Job Duty 4 - Oversees the PDC project estimation and state bid process for projects involving the selection, negotiation and administration of agreements and arrangements with vendors and outside firms and contractors in consultation with sourcing and procurement, client stakeholders and senior leadership as needed
Job Duty 5 - Champions the use of technology to facilitate project delivery efficiency and communications. Responsible and accountable for the creation and management of project budgets as well as ongoing metrics and status reports to ensure projects stay within approved budgets
Job Duty 6 - Oversees, promotes and is responsible for the integration of sustainable design and construction standards in close collaboration with the Office of Sustainability in furtherance of the Institute's Climate Action Plan. In conjunction with the Office of Sustainability, provides LEED and green building in-house training for direct reports and the department in order to build intellectual capacity and knowledge in the field to advance PDC's knowledge of green building technology and systems as the built-form environment evolves
Job Duty 7 - Responsible for the management and ongoing development of standards and processes related to the University's Building Design and Construction Guidelines and CPO's Project Planning and Delivery Process
Job Duty 8 - Ensures that all Institute legal, budgetary and departmental processes and standards are met. Works with the Institute's Office of Government and Community Affairs to maintain relationships with area unions and laborers and local and state regulatory agencies involved in the planning, design and construction approval process of University facilities
Job Duty 9 - Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelorr's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction or Management, Planning related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
Certifications or licenses required for this job: LEED Accredited Professional
Required Experience
Ten or twelve years of job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications

Certifications or licenses preferred: Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer certification

Master's Degree
Preferred Experience
Strongly preferred fifteen to twenty years of job-related experience and senior-level management experience
