The College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services and Information Technology (CECH-IT) is dedicated to making a difference in our communities through outreach, academic programs, and community partnerships. The School of Education within the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology (CECH-IT) at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position. Primary responsibilities will reside in the Instructional Design and Technology program. The position is expected to begin August 15, 2026.

Job Overview

An Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati is expected to teach, conduct research, scholarly and other professional or creative activities. This position will support the University of Cincinnati’s mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all of our activities.

Essential Functions

  • Teach graduate courses in Instructional Design and Technology, including but not limited to: Learning Sciences and Technology, Multimedia Studio, Tools for Online Learning Creation and Assessment, Trends and Issues in Learning Technology Evaluation.
  • Participate in curriculum and course development.
  • Conduct research in the area of Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIEd), or other cutting-edge technologies applied to education such as virtual reality, augmented reality, or wearable devices.
  • Advise graduate students using and researching technology tools for their own projects.
  • Collaborate across disciplines, such as Curriculum & Instruction, STEM, or Developmental and Learning Sciences.
  • Participate in professional service activities such as shared program governance and serving on program, school, college, and university committees including but not limited to: Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) committee; student climate committee; AI Enablement Community of Practice (AIECOP).

Minimum Requirements

Prior to the effective date of appointment, all of the following are required:

  • Doctorate in Instructional Design and Technology, Educational Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Four academic years of experience designing and developing learning experiences infusing cutting-edge technologies, such as but not limited to AI, virtual reality games, wearable devices, or augmented reality.
  • Taught at least two courses at the collegiate level.
  • Produced at least 1 publication and 1 conference presentation beyond a dissertation.

Required Education

Must have obtained a Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in a field appropriate to the requirements of the position.
