Department Information
The Department of Educational Technology and Foundations in the College of Education invites applicants to apply for an Open-Rank Professor of Instructional Technology position to begin August 1, 2026. This is a 10-month in-person position. This position will teach online graduate courses in our Instructional Technology programs. which UWG represents the largest program in the state of Georgia. Our programs primarily serve Georgia Educators (e.g., teachers, instructional coaches, and school librarians). The College of Education is doctoral-granting and SACS-accredited, preparing graduates for professional careers. Located 45 miles west of Atlanta, the University of West Georgia’s 645-acre campus offers modern, state-of-the-art facilities complemented by beautiful greenspaces. Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Instructional Technology
- Participate in service to the department, college, institution, and field commensurate with rank
- Conduct research related to the field of instructional design and technology commensurate with rank
- Advise graduate students
- Work collaboratively with faculty
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Media, or a related educational field (ABD can be considered)
- Demonstrated innovative uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Demonstrated ability to build and teach accessible courses in fully online environments
- Structured research agenda related to the field of instructional design and technology commensurate with rank
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of the ability to develop experiences using emerging learning technologies
- Willingness to take leadership roles in state, regional, national, and/or international professional organizations
- Experience working with P-12 schools
- Experience supporting Ed.D./doctoral students (e.g., advising, research supervision, dissertation/capstone support)
Proposed Salary
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
