Astronomy Instructor - Adjunct
ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education student, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Join as an adjunct faculty member and be a part of one of the most diverse school in Washington State.
ASTRO & 101: General Astronomy is a five-credit course that represents a unified account of contemporary astronomy covering topics from the solar system to the entire universe at its grandest scale. Laboratory portion has the purpose of introducing students to methods and techniques commonly employed in astronomy. Actual experiments vary depending upon weather conditions and which celestial objects are observable that season. Satisfies a natural science or lab science requirement for AA degree.

Green River College welcomes faculty who have a commitment to excellence in teaching and the ability to utilize a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in a closely related physical science such as physics, astrophysics, chemistry, or geophysics with successful teaching experience (preferably in astronomy) at the college level OR Master's Degree in astronomy with some teaching experience (any subject) at the college level.
