BENEFITS ANALYST 2 - Survivor group in RASC (Two positions available)
Department Overview
The Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) counsel's members of the University as they transition into retirement and provide long-term pension and retirement health benefits support.
Position Summary
The Benefits Analyst 2 (for the Survivor group) provides support in the processing of retirement and pension applications, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. This role involves assisting members with general inquiries, reviewing documentation for completeness, and working under the guidance of senior analysts. The BA2 contributes to data integrity and participates in training to build knowledge in UC retirement services. Please note 2 (two) positions available. These are hybrid positions. Onsite anchor days are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Key Responsibilities
- 20% Reviews and validates member applications and documents for completeness and accuracy before processing. Provides support in processing applications related to retirement, survivor/beneficiary, insurance, and disability benefits.
- 20% Assists members with general retirement and pension inquiries, providing clear and accurate information. Escalates complex issues to senior analysts for resolution, following established procedures.
- 20% Supports data integrity across retirement systems, ensuring information is accurate and up to date. Collaborate with team members to complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
- 20% Provides training to departments on employee benefit and leave of absence programs, conducts workshops, and revises / updates workshops as appropriate.
- 20% Identifies opportunities for process improvements and communicates observations to senior staff.
Experience
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in Benefits, Pension Plans, or other relevant roles.
Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications
- Expertise in retirement and pension benefits administration, including defined benefit plans and complex eligibility rules.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ERISA, IRS, UC policies).
- Excellent communication and counseling skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
